To
celebrate a wedding the Vikings drank mead through the 28 days of the
moon’s cycle. This celebration became known as the “honeymoon”.
Vikings
drank mead from large horns. When drinking they held the point of the
horn to their stomach and drank all the mead in one go. This
drinking pattern regularly led to them becoming drunk, which often led
to fights and arguments. Injuries and death were common because when
drunk they were unable to defend or protect themselves.
