Vikings

The Vikings

In Viking times the alcohol of choice was mead, which was a type beer made from honey. It was the job of women and girls to make the mead.

To celebrate a wedding, the Vikings drank mead through the 28 days of the moon's cycle.  This celebration became known as a "honeymoon".

Vikings drank mead from large horns by holding the point of the horn to their stomach and drinking it all in one go. This made them very drunk. This often led to fights and arguments. Injuries and deaths were common because the Vikings were unable to defend themselves.
