Depressants

A depressant drug slows down some processes in the body. The heart beats more slowly, the nervous system slows down and the muscles relax. People may feel more relaxed and sociable, and maybe a bit sleepy.

People can become dependent on depressant drugs, though not everyone does.

Taking too many, or taking more than one depressant drug at the same time can be dangerous as it slows down peoples breathing and heart rate.
